Exhibition "Serbia Remembers - 25th Anniversary of the Defense of the Homeland from NATO Aggression"
On the occasion of commemorating the anniversary of the start of NATO aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and 78 days of bombing of our country, the Military Museum and the Aeronautical Museum organized the exhibition "Serbia Remembers - 25th anniversary of the defense of the homeland against NATO aggression" in the Gallery of the Military Museum in Kalemegdan.
The exhibition was officially opened by the Vice-President of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Defense Miloš Vučević, who pointed out that a people and a country that forgets difficult moments and difficult times cannot understand well when good times come. He also pointed out that this exhibition represents a small piece of the overall mosaic in the culture of memory and in the truth of what we as a people survived those 11 weeks of aggression against our country, as well as during the nineties, from the breakup of the former Yugoslavia, during the events of 1998 and 1999 in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija. Unfortunately, this is still happening today to our people in Kosovo and Metohija.
He thanked all the people from the Military Museum and the Aeronautical Museum who participated in the preparation of the exhibition and for not stoping only at June 10th or some other date in 1999, but showed with the exhibition everything that was happening to us, and that was well designed, with the aim of confiscating part of the territory of our country. The Minister of Defense invited everyone to visit the exhibition and "see for yourself what we have been through as a nation and what price we have paid, from the murder of children, the elderly, soldiers, and policemen to the destruction of infrastructure and our cultural and historical heritage."
In front of the museums that are part of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces, Lt. Col. Milivoje Milisavljević addressed the crowd and pointed out that the mission and idea of the Military Museum and the Aeronautical Museum is to witness the history of our nation, with the task of preserving the culture of remembering the events of 1999. The opening of the exhibition was attended by members of the collegium of the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff, war veterans, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Army.
