Orao 2C
Orao is the first post-war high-performance glider of domestic construction. Two prototypes built side by side in the "Ikarus" factory in Zemun were completed in 1949. The basic version was made in two variants - Orao 2b and 2c, but in small numbers. The exhibited example is the only surviving glider of this type.
It was made in 1954 at the company "Letov" in Ljubljana, and then it was handed over to the Federal Aviation Center in Vršac, where our gliders achieved numerous records flying on it. It was included in the Museum's collection in November 1972.
At the World Championship in Sweden in 1950, glider pilot Milan Borisek won second place in the general classification flying the Orao glider, and during the following years many state records were broken on it.
