Nieuport XI "BeBe"
The French fighter plane Nieuport 11 was used in the First World War. The plane was constructed in 1915, and was designed as a counterpart to German Fokker-type fighter planes.
The Aeronautical Museum exhibits a replica of the Nieuport 11 obtained in 1982, with the original engine, machine gun and propeller.
It had the most massive use on the Western Front, where it enabled the French to achieve air superiority. From 1916, it became part of Serbian aviation. It played a significant role on the Thessaloniki front, until it was replaced by more modern aircraft in the summer of 1917. Some of the most famous Serbian pilots of the First World War, such as Branko Vukosavljević, Tadija Sondermajer, Aleksandar Deroko and others, flew on this plane.
