Ikarus Aero 2D

Aero 2 is a two-seater aircraft of domestic construction, intended for basic flight training of pilots. Production of the first domestic post-war prototype Aero 2B, which flew in 1946, began at the "Ikarus" Aircraft Factory in Zemun. Over 300 aircrafts were built, in several versions (hydroplane 2H and agricultural plane 2F), which flew for more than 15 years. It was used in the Air Force until the end of the fifties, and after that they continued to be used in aero clubs throughout Yugoslavia. The last Aero 2 was decommissioned on December 31 in 1975.

This aircraft was the "flying school desk" of the post-war Yugoslav Air Force. It worthily replaced its pre-war predecessor - the Fizir FN aircraft.
The aircraft on display was handed over to the Aeronautical Museum in 1961.
