MQ-1"Predator"



The MQ-1 Predator (often referred to as the Predator drone) is an American remotely piloted aircraft, built by General Atomics, that was used primarily for reconnaissance with the help of cameras and other sensors. Unmanned aerial vehicles or drones are aircraft that are controlled from the ground. In the beginning, they had a reconnaissance purpose, and today they carry weapons and participate in combat operations.

The Predator was used operationally and in combat during the wars in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Libya, and Somalia. He played a more significant role during the wars in the territory of the former Yugoslavia, and especially during the NATO aggression in 1999.

According to the estimates of the General Staff of the Yugoslav Army, during the 78 days of bombing, about 30 NATO drones were shot down, of which the North Atlantic Alliance officially confirmed the loss of 27: RQ-5 Hunter (8), CL-289GE (5), RQ-2 Pioneer ( 3), Sagem Crecerelle (3), MQ-1 Predator (3), Phoenix (3), CL-289FR (2).

The MQ-1 "Predator"" from the 11th Reconnaissance Squadron of the 55th Wing of the US Air Force, was shot down on May 13, 1999 near Uroševac.
