Hawker Hurricane Mk.IV RP

The need for modernization of the British air force in the 1930s led to the emergence of the Hawker Hurricane. It was the first British fighter plane, which reached a speed of over 400 kilometers per hour. It became one of the most important British planes in World War II and one of the most famous in general.

It was used near Dunkirk during the withdrawal of French and British troops from the German environment, then in the battle for Britain, in the defense of Malta, North Africa, and the Soviet Union. The Yugoslav Royal Air Force introduced Hurricanes in use at the end of 1938, and Yugoslav aircraft factories received a license to produce these aircraft and built 24 aircraft.

Тhe Hawker Hurricane Mk 4 which is in the Aeronautical Museum was produced in 1943. In the Yugoslav Air Force, these fighters were operational until 1952. The Hurricane was included in the museum collection in 1961.
