Soko J-20 "Kraguj"

J-20 Kraguj ("Sparrowhawk") is a light attack aircraft intended for combat against helicopters and for training reserve pilots, which was created as a project of the Aeronautical Technical Institute.

The need to create this type of aircraft arose during the Cold War and the conflicts of limited intensity that took place around the planet. It was designed in 1962 and serial production began in 1964. It was produced in the "Soko" aircraft factory in Mostar until 1977. It was developed under the influence of experiences of confronting the enemy in conditions of partisan warfare, for action on temporarily occupied territory, with the possibility of taking off from grassy areas. Exceptional flight performance ensured the rapid retraining of sports pilots into fighter pilots. In total of 41 aircrafts J-20 were produced.

"Kraguj " was in operational use in the Territorial Defense. After the end of operational use, it became a popular sports and collector's aircraft and several examples are located in France, Great Britain and the USA. He was also remembered for his role in the film "Partisan Squadron". In the collection of the Aeronautical Museum are several examples of J-20 "Kraguj". The permanent exhibition displays an aircraft that was in operational military use until 1985, after which was handed over to the Museum.
