Junkers Ju-52

In addition to the famous fighter planes, the German manufacturer Junkers also produced the Ju-52 transport plane. It has been present in the German Air Force since 1934. The Ju-52 was an important aircraft in parachute landings. It was used in almost all German combat operations, such as the landing on Crete and the fighting on the Eastern Front.

The first Yugoslav Ju-52, popularly called "Julka", was captured on October 24, 1944, when the German pilot mistakenly landed at the Nikšić airport instead of Tirana. By the end of the Second World War, three more aircrafts of this type were captured, and after the war four more aircraft of this type were acquired in France, including a museum's example. All of them were part of the 119th Aviation Transport Regiment.
After the end of the Second World War, the JU-52, under the name "Amiot AAC 1 Toucan" was produced in France, where it was also produced during the war, and post-war production also existed in Spain.

The last operational Junkers Ju-52 in Yugoslavia was decommissioned in 1965 when it flew to Belgrade to become part of the museum collection.
